The internet has provided us with many ways to make money or capture attention for our business endeavors from the comfort of our own homes. In this article, I want to share with you 20 ways to utilize this tool for success.

  1. Tutoring: Pick a subject that you’re good at or tutor younger kids for money
  2. Teaching a language: There are websites, like Italki, where you can video chat with people trying to learn a language you speak. You don’t even have to create a lesson plan or teach them grammar or anything like that, you can just chat with them in your native language so they can practice it.
  3. Coding: Sell small applications on websites like Fiverr or build some software you can use as the core product for a business.
  4. Writing articles: Websites like Medium will pay you for people reading and liking your articles. You can also run your own blog that runs ads or partner with companies or other writers to create sponsored posts. On websites like Fiverr, you can get paid to ghostwrite.
  5. Copywriting: Write promotional and advertising materials meant to draw in new customers and retain them. Businesses or brands will pay you to create this material for them.
  6. Social Media Marketing: Reach out to small brands or creators and offer to create social media marketing campaigns for them. There are many different specific aspects you can specialize in, such as focusing on Facebook ads or creating content.
  7. Graphic design: I personally have hired graphic designers to create thumbnails for me in the past. Graphic designers can be utilized for a multitude of different brands and companies.
  8. Video editing: The longest part of the video creation process for me and many others is editing, so much so to the point I can really dread it and procrastinate. Outsourcing this can take a lot of stress off video creators. This can also be a great way to get experience and sharpen your skills for your own personal projects.
  9. Lawn work: Use social media to advertise a local lawn care business.
  10. Dropshipping: Very simply, dropshipping is taking products from one site and reselling them on another site to profit. You usually don’t even need to carry stock. You order the product from one site/company and send it directly to the customer who purchased it from you.
  11. Dog walking: Use an app like Rover to walk dogs for people or advertise on social media. This is great for dog lovers.
  12. Housesitting: Advertise on social media or use an app to connect with people going out of town to watch over their home while they’re gone.
  13. Babysitting: Like housesitting, advertise this on social media or use an app to connect.
  14. DoorDash: Pick up food for people and get paid. I just listen to music or podcasts while I do it. It’s pretty chill but it can get frustrating at times. Can also work for Uber Eats, Postmates, GrubHub, etc.
  15. Uber: Drive people around for money. You do have to be 21+ to do this.
  16. Turo: Rent your car out to people through the Turo app.
  17. Selling knowledge: Create ebooks and/or courses sharing your knowledge on a specific subject. You don’t have to be a world-class expert. Just know enough about the subject to provide value to the customer.
  18. Online mentoring: A corollary of selling knowledge, by online mentoring you directly connect with people looking to learn about a skill. Having someone knowledgeable with an outside perspective can really help people.
  19. Car detailing and washing: Use social media to advertise a car detailing/washing business.
  20. Play games for people: People will pay you to level up their video game character on various games. Preferably, you would do this on a game you’re good at and enjoy. This is technically against the rules of most games, but there is still a large market for this.
